Advice for newlyweds, contemplating new mortgage and new baby?

My husband %26amp; I were married a month ago and are looking at buying a home soon, but also want to try for a baby. We're both 32, so we don't have too much time on our side and I'm just a bit worried about having a big, brand new expensive mortgage and then dropping back to one wage when I have a baby. I don't want to put strain on our relationship, but really need to get out of the teeny tiny unit we're currently in. I'm having anxiety attacks it's so small. How much should we allow to spend per week on the mortgage so we aren't struggling on other areas? My hubby does shift work but is probably on around $55K per annum. Tips from other Mums? or Dads?Advice for newlyweds, contemplating new mortgage and new baby?
We have a 1400 a month mortgage and 4 children. We seem to make it just fine If you want a child bad enough and the house you can make it all work out. Its not impossible might just be a bit of a stuggle for a bit :) Best of luck to you!Advice for newlyweds, contemplating new mortgage and new baby?
I think you have a little more time than you realize. You can reasonably wait a couple-three years for having children. It gives you and your husband a chance to get any early marital kinks worked out AND you can put some money away (be sure to save while you are both working) to back you up...when that ';unexpected'; expense shows up. That way you can go ahead and find a place to buy. Get settled and you then will be in good shape to bring children into the picture.

Congratulations and good luck.
